5 Christmas gift trends in 2025

Finding new Christmas gifts each year isn’t always easy - there’s only so many pairs of socks you can buy! But there are five trending themes for Christmas shopping in 2025: sustainability, nostalgia, well-being, themed bundles and quirkiness.

We’ve dug a little deeper into each of them, so hopefully you can use it as a source of inspiration for an original, on-trend gift.

Sustainable gifts

Gifts from small businesses, as well as those made from eco-friendly materials that can be reused for years to come, are proving particularly popular this year. Locally sourced or handmade goods are another way of doing your bit that’s always a hit at Christmas.

Another approach to sustainable gifting is the five gift rule. This helps monitor your spending, and reduces clutter by focusing on fewer, more meaningful gifts - something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read, and something they didn’t know they wanted. Divide them up between friends if five is too many!

Nostalgic gifts

If ever there’s a time to get nostalgic, it’s Christmas. That might be why the Country Christmas aesthetic is trending, which ties together warmth and cosiness, earthy tones and nostalgic charm. Think brass candleholders, tartan wreaths and wooden ornaments that make your home feel like a fairy tale!

You also can’t go wrong with something more personal. Take them on a trip down memory lane - whether it’s fun, retro gifts that bring them straight back to the 80s or something more sentimental, like an old photograph.

Personal well-being gifts

Self-care bundles are everywhere in 2025 - as people are becoming more interested in a bit of downtime than they are ‘stuff’. Build them their very own pamper kit, with candles, an eye-mask and a wash bag filled with treats, or even give them an arts and crafts kit, to take their mind off the everyday and help them relax and recharge.

Themed gifts

Heard of a boo basket? They might be for Halloween, but the idea of themed gift-bundles is catching on all year-round. It’s a great way of personalising a gift, is budget-friendly and a lot of fun to pull together!

Simply pick a theme, and fill your basket with a few small, thoughtful treats that match. Mix the practical with the playful, as well as their favourite foods and any finishing touches unique to them.

Quirky gifts

This is where the fun really starts! There’s plenty of weird and wonderful gifts out there - and it’s the whimsical ones that are trending at the moment. Whether it’s mushroom-core, animal-themed decor or surrealist homeware, the quirkier the better!

If that’s not quite their style, try and add an unusual twist to their existing hobbies or interests. For example, if you know they like plants, surprise them with a build your own cress garden set or owl plant pot, rather than just a basic planter.
