Guest blog by Jemma Loi
With the kids back to school and packed lunches well and truly back on, what could be more fun than brightening up the lunch box routine with these cute and colourful reusable snack bags!
With a great selection of characters to choose from there is sure to be something to make everyone smile! They are also a great way of reducing single use plastics, making lunch times greener!
I find the more creative I am with food and packaging, the more chance I have of sneaking goodness into my little ones! I have put together a few ideas for inspiration, and great ways to fill your snacks bags.
Cinnamon Sugar Meteors
- 1 400g tin of chickpeas
- 1 tbsp caster sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Pre-heat your over to 190 degrees and line a baking tray with parchment.
Combine all your ingredients in a bowl and spread out on the tray evenly.
Bake for 45-50 mins, turning half way. Allow to cool completely and fill your snack bags! They will keep fresh in an air tight tub for up to five days and work well with savoury flavourings too! Curry powder, pesto and oregano, smoked paprika . . . Just a few examples!
Cookie The Cat’s Cookies
These are super speedy with just FOUR ingredients!
- 160g oats
- 3 mashed bananas
- 140g peanut butter
- 40g chocolate chips (you can swap for raisins)
Pre heat your oven to 180 degrees and line a baking tray.
In a large bowl add all four ingredients and mix well until everything is evenly combined.
Then roll into balls about the size of a fifty pence piece. Push to flatten slightly then bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Once baked, leave to cool and fill your snack bags!
Again, these will keep fresh for around 5 days in an airtight container. It really is that simple and kids could also get involved with this one!
- 3 small apples
- Cinnamon to sprinkle
Preheat oven to 160 degrees and line a baking tray
Core and thinly slice your apples into a large bowl then toss in 1-2 tsp of cinnamon. Spread them out evenly on your tray and bake for 50-55 minutes, turning half way to cool.
Fill your snack bags and seal. They are great dipped in yogurt or peanut butter too!
