Gone are the days of scratchy thin crayons that break in half as soon as you put any pressure on them. These silky crayons create vibrant marks with ease, making them the perfect artistic tool for kids to create their masterpieces with. They’re also washable, come with a protective lid and can be transported around in their colourful tube so are fantastic for mess-free creating on the go! Here are five fun ideas to get the kids creative with crayons!

Masking tape letter resist

For a stunning piece of letter art, simply put some masking tape in the shape of an initial you’d like onto some paper. Let your child go wild with the crayons and then carefully peel off the tape to reveal a crisp white letter.

Leaf rubbing

A classic activity to do outside with all those precious leaves and textures found while on spring walks. Simply place some paper over the texture you want to capture and then rub the crayons on top.

Crayons on fabric

Either make or buy a simple flag and then get your little one to create directly onto the material for an instant easy-to-hang masterpiece! The fabric and  texture will add lots of personality and interest to a gallery wall or will make a gorgeous handmade nursery decor item.

Watercolour resist

Draw some shapes onto paper with the crayons and then lightly brush over with some watercolour paint. The paint will resist the wax leaving a lovely print type effect, great for using on cards or gifts.

Foil drawing

This is a great sensory activity for pre-schoolers. The foil means that the crayons make gorgeous indentations that are wonderfully tactile for tiny hands. Try doing repeat patterns for beautiful shiny results.
