How to stay cosy this winter

There’s lots to love about summer, with the scent of BBQs in the air, picnics in the park, and daily ice-cream, but there’s lots to love about winter, too. So, as the cold nights are drawing in, here are a few ways to get cosy and make the most of this magical season.

Start the day right

We’re often told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. On warm days it’s easy to kick the day off with a bowl of cereal or some fruit, but chilly days call for something a little more comforting in the mornings. It’s hard to beat a dippy egg and hot buttery toast soldiers!

Hygge your home

Now is the perfect time to set up those hygge hibernation vibes in your home with lots of soft lighting, whether it’s a night light for your little one’s room, or a string of festoon lights on the patio. Children of all ages will love snuggling up in bed by the glow from this sweet moon night light.

As well as all that battery-powered light, be sure to get your glow the old fashioned way with a stylish candle or three. Choosing candles with gorgeous scents will help make those cosy evenings at home feel extra indulgent.

To complete the cosy-fication of your home, you need to make sure you have plenty of cushions and blankets for the ultimate comfort. No winter hibernation is complete without a snuggly nest on the sofa. This pretty patchwork cushion is now just £3.95, down from £9.95, perfect for a thrifty winter treat.

Keep your hands warm

There’s nothing quite like warming your hands with a mug of coffee or hot chocolate on a cold winter’s morning. If you’re not on the go with a travel mug, then curling up at home with a cup of hot chocolate is something you just can’t do in the summer.

It’s not easy to have a hot cup of coffee at all times, so if you regularly suffer from cold hands in the winter, why not give a hot pack a go? Simply place in hot water for 10 minutes to create a toasty treat that will keep warm for up to half an hour. Best of all, you can reuse them in the summer as a cold pack, ideal for lunch bags or for soothing bumps and bruises.
