More birthday blogs we love

10th July 2012thomas Share:FacebookTwitterShare

We had so much great feedback from our last selection of birthday blogs, we decided to do it all over again. So here's another selection of some of the best birthday-inspired reads we've found.

Art at Kite Studios

You don’t have to travel far to see Treasure Islands or meet wild beasts. Kite Studios will transform your front room or garden into a magical, far away land for your adventurous little one’s birthday party. If you have wannabe designers at home, they will surely love painting on T-shirts or making felt jewellery. Kite Studios organise parties for adults too, with art workshops involving making masks for balls or silk screen printing. Check out the blog for more creative party ideas for children and adults, from cupcake decorating to working with clay and making puppets inspired by folk artist Julie Arkell.

Bedazzled Parties

Baby Signing Parties are the newest addition to the repertoire of the team at Bedazzled Parties. They cover every party detail, from planning and entertainment to bespoke save the date cards and party invitations - with ‘Love and Sparkles’ sprinkled on everything, of course. All you’ll have to do is relax and enjoy the experience together with your children, or escape to a safe haven of the ‘parents area’. If you want to have a go at organising everything yourself, check out their blog for tips on how to arrange the perfect birthday party.

Celestielle Face Painting

Celestielle is very passionate about her job and it shows - her face painting designs will simply blow you away. Perhaps it’s because, when she’s working, she’s only focused on the face in front of her, forgetting about the rest of the world. She can even tune out the noise of 180 little ones running around her! Apart from painting party favourites like pirates, princess fairies and tigers, Celestielle and her team can create unique face painting and body art designs for your party, for children and adults alike.

Create a Party Bag

Have you ever faced the ‘party bag dilemma’? Not only don’t you know what to put in the bag, but you’re not even sure why you have to give them out at all. Clive the Caterpillar reminds us why it’s important to thank your child’s guests for coming to the party. If you don’t want to settle for ‘plastic tat’, be creative and include art supplies or a little book instead. Clive has more party advice on his blog, like how to make his niece’s favourite hedgehog birthday cake, party themes for older children and a hat tip on how to know who left which gift!

Ellie Kelly

Pass the Parcel is a well known and loved party game, but why not make it even more exciting and do it the ‘Ellie Kelly way’? Find out what clever twist children’s parties organiser Ellie adds to her version by reading her blog. Amazingly, it guarantees no children getting bored or wandering away, with a minimal number of layers of paper used! If your child dreams of going around the world or of being a mermaid, Ellie’s blog will give you plenty of ideas on how to create that magical party. If your little one would love a craft or an adventure story party, she can organise one for you.

Fairy Dust Events

A fire show, a tightrope rig, dazzle stations or a visit from a favourite character - Fairy Dust Events can provide it all for your child’s birthday or even an ‘unbirthday’. If you’re short of party ideas, make sure to check out their blog for inspiration. You’ll see party staples like face painting and balloon modeling, and more unusual parachute games and circus skills like diabolo or poi. We especially like the post about a flower fairy coming to little Lau’s birthday party and making the sunshine come out after a week of rain, all thanks to waving her magic wand!

First Birthday Party Ideas

The First Birthday Party Ideas blog is all about advice for organising the best party for a one year old. Children at this age can be tricky to cater for. You need to remember to schedule the party around nap time, avoid certain foods in the menu (no nuts or hard candy!) and child proof the venue, decorations included. It might be hard to remember all the do’s and don’ts, especially when you’re looking after a baby. That’s why the blog has a handy checklist detailing what you need to do from a month before to the very day of the party. The most important thing you need to remember is to enjoy your baby’s first birthday party!

Maggie and Rose

Maggie & Rose is a Family Members Club, a home from home for children and all of their family (grandparents, aunties and other carers included!). You can visit the club any day and let your children enjoy creative play while you relax with a cuppa nearby. Maggie & Rose also organise uniquely planned children’s parties at their club, so you don’t need to worry about the mess that is part and parcel of great fun. Pop over to their blog for creative party ideas, including making nutritious meals for children. So if you’d like to serve lemon wedges and rocket leaves at your toddler’s birtdhay party, check the blog for how you can teach your little one to eat these foods with delight!

Mirage Parties

What’s the best time to start a party? Is one party for two family birthdays really a good idea? And why will we need to go to the Moon to fill party balloons? Check out the Mirage Parties blog for the answers and more advice on how to throw a fabulous party. Having twenty years experience in event design and implementation, they surely know how to create an incredible party, whether you’re looking to celebrate an 18th or 50th birthday, a wedding or a corporate event - live elephants and tigers included!

Soap and Bubble

If you’re eco-conscious and an animal lover, check out Soap and Bubble. They organise soap and perfume making parties using only natural ingredients that have not been tested on animals, and they also support various charities. If you’re ever stuck for party ideas, drop by their blog for unique yet easy to make decorations. Who knew that humble carrot sticks were perfect substitutes if you ran out of real monster bones? Or that paint testers were ideal for making colourful garlands?

The Party Maker

‘I’m a 10 year old get me out of here’ is just one of many inventive party themes featured on the Party Maker blog. They’re passionate about children’s parties and determined to proof that you can throw an incredible children’s party even on a very tight budget. Their ‘Recipe for Success’ post is a handy checklist for planning a kids party, and includes helpful reminders like keeping food to one room on one hand and trying not to over ‘manage’ your guests on the other. If you’re short of party ideas, the Party Maker’s DYI party packs cover all the details, from shopping lists to activity planners, to help you organise a memorable event.

18th Birthday

There’s nothing more to know about organising a perfect 18th birthday party than it’s already featured on the 18th Birthday blog. They have truly covered it all, including gifts, party decorations, games, cake, fancy dress and party locations. You will also find some unusual ideas on how to celebrate your 18th, like hiring a venue with a silent disco! If you’re turning 18 soon, we recommend getting familiar with a list of what things you will be able to legally do when you become an adult, like changing your next of kin or, more importantly, buying cutlery.

UK Entertainers

If your child is obsessed with Captain Barnacles or Kwazii and would be thrilled with an Octonauts-themed birthday party, pop over to the UK Entertainers blog for a Kwazii Cake recipe. It’s been reported to bring tears of happiness to the recipient's eyes! If you’re struggling for party games ideas, check out their extensive list including Dragon’s Tail or Dead Ants. For a baby’s first birthday party, try scrunching some wrapping paper or invest in a bubble machine - giggles and squeals of joy guaranteed!

Zaz Is My Pal

Zaz has been entertaining kids since he was a kid himself and his blog features cute testimonials from his fans, full of praise for their favourite clown. And how could you not love someone with a tape measure watch, riding a unicycle? Zaz can drop by your child’s party and present you his mini circus, and even teach your children a few tricks. If they can focus long enough amongst all the giggles!
