Brrrr....it's cold. Here are ten toasty tips to keep warm and maybe even save a pretty penny on the gas bill.

1. Have you ever tried carrying around hot packs? They’re ideal for venturing out into the cold and ours are as cute as a button.

2. Natural wool is the best clothing material for keeping your body warm, but always layer up. Put a vest under your top, wear thick socks and invest in thick thermals.

3. Hats, scarves and gloves stop the heat escaping from your head, neck and hands. It sounds obvious but keep those often unproteced areas warm and you'll feel significantly warmer.

4. Get the blood pumping with some light exercise. Just some stretches, press-ups or jogging on the spot will do the trick.

5. To save some dosh invest in a portable heater, turn off unused radiators, and only warm the rooms you’re using.

6. Make your bed cosy before you get in, with an electric blanket or hot water bottle.

7. Hot meals really do warm you up, so when it comes to dinner time, cook yourself a winter stew, goulash or pie. Desserts are equally effective, from bread and butter pudding to apple crumble.

8. Between meals, stay toasty with a hot drink such as tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Check out our range of bamboo travel mugs, perfect for keeping warm at home or on the go.

9. Close all the windows, block up drafts, hang thick curtains and put rugs down on bare floors.

10. Sharing body heat with a partner, friend or a pet is great for keeping warm. So if you have a snuggle buddy to call upon, it's always a great idea.
