Embroidery blogs we love

We appreciate embroidery at DotComGiftShop and recognise the high levels of skill involved.

Here are some of our favourite embroidery blogs, which will not only inspire you but maybe even teach you a thing or two.

Kayla Coo

Kayla Coo is obsessed with embroidery, so it's no surprise that her blog is filled with creative delights.

Working as an art and design technician by day, Kayla also spends most of her spare time threading up sewing machines and admits she is slightly obsessed.

But if she is addicted to embroidery, it's certainly to our advantage, as we get to see the amazing work she produces.

To see someone who is so passionate about what they do, is always inspiring and for that reason, along with many more, we highly recommend Kayla Coo's blog.

Mr X Stitch

Jamie Chalmers is Mr X Stitch and his mission is very simple: To bring the world of contemporary cross stitch and embroidery to a wider audience.

As well as showcasing his own work, Mr X Stitch also finds other people who are 'pushing boundaries of the threadiverse; people who make amazing art using the power of stitch'.

This is an incredibly interesting blog and rare in it's subject matter (contemporary embroidery), which immediately sets it apart from many other craft blogs.

So if you want to learn more about the artists that are using embroidery to create their masterpieces, then Mr X Stitch is well worth some of your time.

Dog-Daisy Chains

Dog-Daisy Chains is the blog of embroidery nut Jackie, where she showcases some of her amazing work and shares her expertise with the world.

The blog is presented nicely, with lots of pictures of Jackie's latest creations, which are normally produced for various shows and exhibitions she can be found at.

Jackie says she enjoys nothing more than working with silk fibres and velvet, and especially machine-embroidery. This is evident in many of her stylish pieces.

So if you want to visit a hugely popular blog, with stunning work on display and lots more insights to offer, then Dog-Daisy Chains certainly gets our recommendation.

CannyCrafter

To call the CannyCrafter simply an embroidery blog is slightly inaccurate as creator Caroline also does cardmaking, scrapbooking and other crafty stuff.

But since some of her amazing embroidered work caught our eye, we thought it only fair to include Caroline's blog on our list.

A beautifully presented blog with lots of useful tips and images of Caroline's latest work, this really is worth a visit if you're looking for some design inspiration.

And because the blog has been going for a while now, there's lots to see and even more to learn on the Canny Crafter.

Knit Sew City Girl

Mary is a London-based accountant which she admits doesn't fulfill her creative needs. So in her spare time she knits and sews and documents her work in this fantastic blog.

The tone of the blog is very light, bright and upbeat, which makes reading Mary's latest posts a real joy. And although she openly admits she's no expert at what she does, her passion for all things embroidered certainly comes across.

Knit Sew City Girl is very much a blog that's as much about Mary's life as it is about embroidery but the stories she shares are always interesting and centered around something design-orientated.

This is a really fun blog, which comes highly recommended by DotComGiftShop.
