- Keep a close eye on children when flying a kite. Never allow them to assemble or fly kites without adult supervision and assistance.
- Do not fly in wet or stormy weather; static electricity can build up and be conducted down the line.
- Never fly over other people’s heads or in an area where someone else could be injured from an out-of-control kite.
- Make sure there is plenty of room around you before flying.
- Do not fly close to roads or paths. Not only can it be dangerous if the kite comes down, but it can also distract drivers.
- Keep away from overhead power lines, transmission towers, telephone lines, and aerials. If your kite gets caught, do not attempt to rescue it yourself, inform the relevant company straight away.
- Always be aware of what is behind you, whether it’s people, roads, or even cliffs! It is easy to be distracted by the kite and step back.
- Wear gloves to avoid sore hands from string burn.
- Do not fly near airports, railway lines, public transport systems, or above 200 feet (60 metres).
- Always tidy up after you. Take away any odd bits of line you have discarded, the bag that the kite came in, etc. Throw them away responsibly or recycle them.
- Be careful of animals, they can be easily frightened by flying kites.
- Be courteous and think of others when flying your kite.
- To be assembled by an adult.
- Do not modify the kite or any of its components, including extending the flying line.
- Before flying your kite, please ensure that you check and comply with local kite-flying regulations in your area. Regulations may vary by country, state, or region, and it is your responsibility to ensure safe and legal operation of the kite.
- Please retain instructions for future reference.
