This year we’ve been focusing on the importance of family-time at Christmas, and we know that too much technology - and too much screen time - can get in the way of this. With this in mind, we asked five of our favourite bloggers to choose a selection of gifts to help combat the kids’ screen addiction, and share some of their tips for having a digital detox this Christmas.

Attachment Mummy

Leta, from popular parenting blog Attachment Mummy, acknowledges that you might be dreading the upcoming school holidays, with inevitable stretches of time spent with everyone slouched in front of their phones and tablets. She’s got three great ideas for re-engaging kids and keeping them away from screens (and not because you tell them to, but because they want to!). Her top tip? Embrace simpler pleasures and make amazing memories with your kids.

Check out the full article from Attachment Mummy, How to Keep Kids Away from Screens this Christmas.

Mummy Constant

Sonia, from lifestyle blog Mummy Constant, notes that it’s pretty easy to keep kids entertained when you can head into the great outdoors. But, over the festive period, with its cold and wet weather, it’s not always possible. However, she has some great ideas for helping them leave those devices alone when at home, from playing indoor camp to getting creative.

Be sure to take a look at Sonia’s full blog, Creating A Digital Detox this Christmas with Rex London, for loads of inspiration.

Sonia’s top tip: ‘The key to dragging those kiddies away from their digital toys is to be prepared and plan ahead’.

Crafts on Sea

Crafts on Sea’s Kate turned her attention to the challenges families can face when the weather is less than ideal and the kids are stuck indoors. Along with lots of great ideas for games and crafts, she notes that sometimes you do need to just face the weather and head outside. Her daughter fell in love with our Cookie the Cat umbrella - we agree it’s the perfect accompaniment to braving an adventure in the outdoors!
