Father's Day is just around the corner, so what better way to treat your dad than to throw him a party in the place he loves the most? Whether he's a garden-lover or a chef extraordinaire, we've put together ten fantastic ideas for treating your dad this Father's Day, from the everyday to the downright wacky!

1. Superb sheds

When it comes to getting a little R and R, many dads like to retreat to the garden shed. But gone are the days of dark, dusty cabins: now your shed can be a real home from home, as well as a fully-functioning workshop.

Treat your dad to a cute garden sign or key fob, to give his tool shed some homely touches. Even better, why not offer to help tidy up all his tools?

2. Lovely libraries

Literary dads like nothing more than escaping to a quiet room with a good book. Some are lucky enough to have home offices or even libraries, from wood-panelled wonders to masterpieces of modern design.

Recreate the luxury of a library at home by buying Dad a new book and getting him a footstool so he can put his feet up and have a relaxing read.

3. Gorgeous gardens

With summer on the way, loads of us are flocking outside into our gardens. What better way to spend Father's Day than relaxing on the deck with a cup of coffee and a newspaper?

Your dad will really love lounging in a hammock on a sunny Father's Day, throw something tasty on the barbecue, or simply get out his gardening tools and potter around in the flowerbeds!

4. Cool kitchens

Maybe your dad is a dab hand in the kitchen? If he likes nothing more than whipping up tasty treats, then kitchen utensils and goodies will make the perfect gifts for him.

Think kitchen scales, fine ingredients and storage jars for holding all the yummy things he creates. Or just offer to be his sous chef for the day, so he can tackle some of those more difficult recipes.

5. Lively living rooms

This year sees several World Cup matches falling on Father's Day, so if your dad's an avid fan it's the ideal time to give over the living room to all things sport.

Get the snacks in, send out the football invites and put out some cool retro coasters for the beers. Then you can all cheer on your favourite team as a family!

6. Great games rooms

It doesn't get much better than a games room. You can fill it with everything from games consoles to board games, or even get your hands on a pool table!

Don't have the space to dedicate to an entire games room? Just get hold of some board games, such as draughts or dominoes, and spend a little quality time playing together as a family.

7. Handsome home gyms

Some lucky dads are fortunate enough to have transformed their basements or garages into luxurious home gyms, complete with exercise bikes and weightlifting sets.

If your dad is keen to get in shape but doesn't quite have the space for a whole gym, you can help him work out anywhere with a gentleman's chest expander, an excellent way to improve his abs!

8. Beautiful bathrooms

A nice relaxing bath isn't just for mums - your dad might well enjoy a long hot soak too. It's the ideal way to let go of the stresses of the day and enjoy a long Sunday afternoon.

Give him the full pampering treatment: light some candles, pour in some bubble bath and put some of his favourite spirit in a hip flask so he can have a cheeky nip in the bath.

9. Terrific treehouses

Most of us dream about having a treehouse, the perfect haven up in the trees to get away from it all and go back to nature. If you're lucky enough to have one, this would be the ideal place to throw a Father's Day party.

If you don't have a treehouse, don't worry - you could always pitch a tent in the garden and spend a night camping outside. Take a torch and some playing cards for a perfect night under canvas!

10. Incredible home bars

We're sure most dads have dreamed about having a pub in their garage at some point, so why not make their dream come true for a day?

Set up a table with some stools, get a few bottles of his favourite tipple and invite his best mates over for an evening of revelry in a pub where your dad is the head barman. Cheers!
